Mearsheimer

We were thrilled to host Professor John Mearsheimer as part of our All Azimuth Senior Scholar Series. Professor Mearsheimer talked about the state of the IR discipline, particularly with respect to the Global IR debate. The IR discipline, Mearsheimer argues, showcases features of an Anglo-American hegemony, which is a benign hegemony that does not squelch homegrown theorizing. He concludes by challenging scholars in the global periphery to better conceptualize homegrown scholarship and offer alternative theories that can stand on par with mainstream IR theories. Mearsheimer’s talk was followed by a lively Q&A session.

To watch: https://youtu.be/NmEm9dfJrmc

To listen:

https://www.foreignpolicyandpeace.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Mearsheimer-Talk-April-12-2022-online-audio-converter.com_.mp3

Guest Speaker: Professor John J.
