{"id":2978,"date":"2023-11-20T12:46:03","date_gmt":"2023-11-20T09:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.foreignpolicyandpeace.org\/?p=2978"},"modified":"2023-11-20T12:57:28","modified_gmt":"2023-11-20T09:57:28","slug":"conference-continuities-and-changes-in-turkiye-us-relations-november-10-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.foreignpolicyandpeace.org\/index.php\/en\/2023\/11\/conference-continuities-and-changes-in-turkiye-us-relations-november-10-12\/","title":{"rendered":"Conference: Continuities and Changes in T\u00fcrkiye-US Relations, November 10-12"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Our Center and journal, <em>All Azimuth<\/em>, were proud to co-host with the Turkish Fulbright Commission and the Hollings Center the <em>Continuities and Changes in T\u00fcrkiye-US Relations Conference<\/em> in celebration of the centenary anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey as well as the 75th anniversary of the Turkish Fulbright Association. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event brought together leading scholars and policy experts to address both practical and theoretical issues in the Turkish-American relationship. The Conference was inaugurated by video messages from Ambassador Yaprak Balkan, the General Director for the Americas of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, and Jeffry L. Flake, the United States Ambassador to Turkey. The ensuing panels and roundtable session sought to appraise and diagnose problems in the relationship to explore ways to strengthen the Turkey-US relationship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our staff and board members also contributed to the conference with their presentations. Se\u00e7kin K\u00f6stem and Efe Tokdemir &#8220;Micro-Level Drivers of Turkish Public Opinion Towards the US and Other Major Powers,&#8221; \u0130lker Kal\u0131n presented his research with Carla Martinez Machain titled &#8220;Exploring the Role of Military Interactions in U.S.-Turkey Relations,&#8221; and Onur Erpul with Kemal Kiri\u015fci their research  &#8220;Where is the Anchor?
