Julie Mathews is a member of Ankara Social Sciences University. She previously served as the Director of the\u00a0Graduate School\u2019s MATEFL program from 2006-2013 at Bilkent University. During her PhD studies at\u00a0McGill University she was a recipient of a Fulbright grant for her\u00a0research on sociocultural aspects of academic writing in a second\u00a0language. She has also worked as a researcher at the Center for Applied Linguistics in Washington DC. Her most recent research interests involve\u00a0exploring the social and political impacts of the internationalization of\u00a0education and in particular the role that language and language teaching\u00a0plays in this relationship.
